Impact is the design problem this boot is built around. Here's what that means, and what we built.
What happens on a run
Offshore, the hull doesn't glide. It hits.
At speed, in any real sea state, the boat slams into the face of the water and that force travels up through the hull, into the deck, and into whoever is standing on it. Over and over, for as long as the run lasts. You already know this part.
Shock starts at the feet. Whatever sits between the deck and the angler is the first thing in its path.
What the category built instead
Deck boots are good at what they were designed for. Waterproofing, grip and durability are solved problems, and the brands that solved them did it well — credit where it's due.
But a deck boot is typically a waterproof upper on a flat slab of rubber. That construction is built to survive the salt. It isn't built around the pounding.
What we built
Soft Wake is a structural cushioning system — a wave-shaped EVA geometry with an engineered air pocket structure, sitting between the deck and the boot.
The shape is the point. A flat midsole has one move — compress straight down, pass the rest through. A wave has somewhere to go. The section is engineered to compress vertically and horizontally, absorbing the load and spreading it sideways through the geometry as it enters the boot, instead of sending it straight up in a single line.
That's design intent, stated plainly. It's why the boot is shaped the way it is.
What we are not claiming yet
We can tell you what we built and why we built it that way. We're not going to tell you what it does to your body, because we don't have independent lab testing on confirmed production boots on file yet.
When that testing exists, we'll publish what it actually says — the specific, documented result, worded to match the test. Until then, this page describes the environment and the design, and stops there.
That's deliberate. Plenty of this category is willing to write a check the evidence won't cash. We're not.
